Rebuilding with Minami Sanriku 2011
In the summer of 2011, a team of students and faculty from the Harvard Graduate School of Design spent two months in Minami Sanriku building a community pavilion while researching long term strategic planning for the district of Utatsu. The façade of the pavilion was built with cedar off-cuts and a simple dowel connection technique so that the middle school students could participate in the construction. The building was completed on July 30 for their summer festival.
